My Dad’s Poem, “Ah Liberty”.

My Father Charles Magnell was an amazing Dad as well as a wonderful writer. His poem below depicts his love for his country.
He was a Veteran… a SeaBee in the Navy. I believe his poem reflects the feeling of all Vets who have
served. I will remember my Dad and all who have served this Veterans Day.

        “AH LIBERTY”
You are like a fine and nurtured wine. Your fragrant aroma awakens the soul of lost men.
The yearning for your sanctioned nectar, given to few… and desired by all.
Some taste the drops left on the cup of heros and never know the meaning of it all.
Forgive us Liberty, if vanquished spirits fly, and by the wayside, we do not realize that,
as the fine wine to taste buds must perfect, and only to forget; that you and you alone
are one with man and he with you. For as the grape is nurtured and the spirit is brought forth,
then so shall Liberty become the thing that man has wrought.
So let all free men sip of the nectar grand and give his all for freedom as a fine wine upon a nurtured
land.

The above photo is of my Dad Charles and my Mother Alice.
